Last Friday, SEMMA was pleased to hold our monthly Board Meeting in collaboration with our Education member Chisholm Institute in Dandenong.
It was a fantastic opportunity to maintain industry’s warm connections with TAFE, with our Board receiving a tour of their state-of-the-art training facilities and essential updates. Connecting with Chisholm allows us to stay at the forefront of developments in education, ensuring our members have access to the latest resources and skills pipeline.
The insightful tour visited the Engineering & Mechatronics, Fabrication and Welding departments which all hosted immaculate and modern facilities, including a dedicated welding simulator room. The tour was led by:
- Damien Van Eyk | Chief Commercial Officer
- Andrea O’Bryan | Manager of Industry and Community Engagement
- Avril Switalla | Education Manager of Engineering – Fabrication
Prior to the official meeting, Damien provided a presentation on the available engineering courses, including the fully subscribed Jobs Victoria Engineering Program (JVEP). Andrea also highlighted Chisholm’s commitment to offering free career services to the wider community, extending support beyond Chisholm students. Employers were encouraged to connect with Chisholm to streamline their recruitment processes and tap into a diverse pool of talent.
Part of SEMMA’s collaboration with Chisholm has been promoting recent graduates of the JVEP to our manufacturing member businesses. Employers are urged to respond to the high number of engaged individuals pursuing careers in local manufacturing; tap into this talent pool by registering your interest below:
We look forward to continuing our work to build bridges between education and industry for a stronger workforce and thriving manufacturing sector.
