On Tuesday 27 September, SEMMA CEO Vonda Fenwick and President Peter Angelico attended Jobs Victoria’s Local Jobs Forum for the Eastern Metro region.
This series of forums is designed to gather valuable insights from employers, community leaders and employment and training providers in local communities on how they are innovating in response to staff shortages. Attendees also heard from local candidates and employers who have benefited from more inclusive recruitment practices.
Jobs Victoria is using these Local Jobs Forums to better understand the employment challenges being experienced in different parts of the state to ensure the right supports are targeted for local communities.
Peter Angelico was pleased to speak to attendees regarding the creation, benefits and result of SEMMA’s Welding Skills Short Course which helped successfully place local job seekers into permanent work with diverse local manufacturers.
Businesses looking for staff can use Jobs Victoria’s free recruitment supports and find out about the priority workforce projects currently underway for many sectors.
