Thank you Sandra!
Today, SEMMA attended a celebratory afternoon tea hosted by the City of Greater Dandenong to honour the exceptional contributions of Sandra George OAM. With mixed emotions, we marked her transition into the next chapter of her illustrious career as she steps down from her roles as Manager of SEBN (South East Business Networks) and Secretary of SEMMA. Attended by colleagues, collaborators, friends and family, the diverse crowd, all came together to recognize Sandra’s incredible impact.
Sandra’s journey has been one of purpose and driven by a profound commitment to the community. Her story began with a passion for shorthand, with dreams of serving the court system. However, a twist of fate led her into the corporate world, where she discovered her second passion – manufacturing. Sandra’s indomitable spirit and resourcefulness have since woven a decades-long tapestry of accomplishments.
Throughout her career, Sandra has embodied the essence of community service, intertwining it seamlessly with her professional pursuits. She championed initiatives spanning charity, education, youth empowerment, local business promotion, and the retention of enterprises within Greater Dandenong. Her relentless efforts have brought to life programs like Handbrake Turn, Take a Swing for Charity, and Lunch with the Winners, collectively raising over $600,000 for charitable causes.
Sandra’s advocacy for collaboration has been an unwavering beacon throughout her journey. She recognized the symbiotic relationships between businesses, councils, government bodies, and community groups, underlining the essence of collective growth. During her speech, Sandra also revisited a previous collaboration with Victoria Police, acknowledging her role on the Police Operations Committee as being “a great experience”.
Sandra’s humility shone through her acknowledgement of her key supporters, including Paul Dowling, Jeri Ryan, Jamie Sturgess, Marcus Barker and of course, her family. Her legacy continues to flourish across business and community, reminding us of the power of dedication and collaboration. SEMMA extends its gratitude for her unwavering contributions to SEMMA, manufacturing and the wider community, and we look forward to supporting Sandra’s future initiatives.
