With laser cutting capabilities from 0.1mm steel right up to 25mm thick we can expertly, quickly and competitively laser cut steel to your precise requirements. GMI recently commissioned a start of the art 10-kilowatt Prima Power Steel Laser Cutter that brought Industry 4.0 to the production line, increasing efficiency and productivity and lowering costs.
GMI has 3 x laser cutters, 5 x press brakes, robotic MIG welding plus 10 x boilermakers and welders – our workshop capacity is your production flexibility.
For your supply chain, we use and recommend BlueScope Australian steel that is made in Australia from Australian raw materials. This means not only are you getting an excellent first-rate product, but your supply chain is protected from pandemics, transport embargoes, shipping delays and currency movements – where is the downside?

Steel Laser Cutting
Capabilities from 0.1mm right up to 25mm thick steel. GMI can expertly, quickly and competitively laser cut steel, aluminium and other metals to your precise requirements. Three steel laser cutting machines are at your disposal:
- Genius 10kW Fibre Laser Cutting – state of the art laser technology
- Zaphiro 5kW CO2 Laser Cutting
- Bristow 3kW CO2 Laser Cutting – 6000mm long bed for long cuts
CNC Steel Press Forming
Press forming is a specialty service provided for twenty-five years within our workshop. Expert operators examine the bends and angles on your CAD drawings to repetitively produce the right radius for your parts, every time.
Five CNC presses are available, from the smaller 80 tonne right up to the larger 400 tonne capacity. Holes on your parts can be optionally laser cut after the parts are press formed to ensure your tolerances are met.
Metal Fabrication
Fabrication comprises steel cutting, press forming and welding and as leading repetitive manufacturers we don’t cut corners or squeeze the quality of your job. We have experienced engineers, boilermakers and technicians working together under one roof to fabricate the parts you require.
Fully Automatic Robot Welding and Special Purpose MIG welding to AS1171 for light, medium and heavy steels.
